INFORMATION REGARDING THE FLU AND FLU SYMPTOMS FROM THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION:
-
The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to that of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Other symptoms may include diarrhea and vomiting.
-
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should stay at home and keep away from others as much as possible for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
-
Keeping your distance from others will help decrease the spread of illness, especially to people who have an increased risk of severe illness from influenza.
-
It is expected that most people will not need medical treatment, however if you have severe illness or you are at HIGH RISK for flu complications, you should contact your doctor's office or seek medical care.
-
The Tarboro Clinic has seasonal flu vaccine available now. No appointment is necessary for flu shot only. If you do not have insurance, the cost of the flu vaccine and administration is $30.75.
-
We will update this announcement when the H1N1 vaccine is available.
